Hiking

I remember a saying about how there's no greater joy in the world than a child eating cake. The same could be said about Daphne and hiking because I can't recall ever hearing her giggle like she did while she glided over a dirt path through a reservoir near our house. Her little legs were cycling at 8,000 rpm and the occasional root put her straight to the ground but it didn't deter her.

"I ok."

We have a child carrier pack but when we dusted it off for an afternoon hike this spring and put it in the kitchen she looked at it with contempt.

"I'm not going in there, daddy, I'm not going in there. I wanna walk."

I'm really glad we bought that carrier second hand now...
